Meet Daven Terrell, Certified Professional Midwife/Licensed Midwife
Experience
My midwifery training is rooted in hands-on experience. Over five and a half years, I completed five apprenticeships under midwives with diverse backgrounds and approaches. This gave me a broad, well-rounded foundation in caring for low-risk clients planning out-of-hospital births. While most births unfold normally, I’m trained to recognize when we’ve stepped outside the range of normal and when it’s time to call for a higher level of care. Knowing when to act is a critical part of keeping families safe.
I hold certifications in CPR, Neonatal Resuscitation, Trauma Prevention, and Trauma-Informed Care, and I’ve completed specialized workshops including Reteach Breech and Spinning Babies. I’m committed to ongoing learning and continually expanding my skills, so my list of trainings and certifications is always growing. My Story
I’m Daven and I’ve been walking alongside families on their birth journeys for nearly 12 years. My path into birth work began after the birth of my third child — a transformative home birth after two cesareans.That experience opened my eyes to how powerful, healing, and empowering birth can be when supported with compassionate, evidence-based care. I also saw firsthand how difficult it can be to find providers who truly listen and honor your choices.
Since then, I’ve devoted myself to creating that kind of care for others — care that’s grounded in respect, knowledge, and love. What began as doula work attending births in the hospital, birth centers, and in home, has become a passion that led me to midwifery. I believe every family deserves to feel informed, supported, and confident as they bring new life into the world. This work is more than a career for me; it’s my calling, and it’s an honor to serve each family I meet.
